I've been getting some low system memory warnings lately. Also, about an hour into a game, my sound stops working. What could be some of the causes of this? Win98, 640Mb DDR, AMDXP1700+. I run Spybot religiously, so I don't think its spyware or the like. Thanks!

Do you leave your e-mail program running?
How much drive space do you have left? Windows needs drive space for virtual memory - as much as 1GB. If it runs out of needed space, you get low memory errors.

Bill,
I don't leave my email program running and I have a 100Gig drive that I defrag at least once a week and is 85% free. The problem started a few weeks ago. It had been working fine for 5 months.

It's either a rogue program, a virus or just Win98 being it's stupid self. If you're going to stay with Win98, optimize your memory:

Indeed Win9x is prone to problems with 512meg of ram or more.:t

It's well known that Win9x has trouble addressing/managing memory over 512MB; read this for a fix: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;253912. The sound issuemay derive from there; if not, post back.
