Ok ya'll - here's my problem. I have a couple Karaoke CD's I'd like to be able to play the Graphics on. I don't have a Karaoke machine (not a +G one anyway). I bought my CD-RW after researching and trying to make sure it supported every format. Well it does. . . for writing. The lamers at Lite-On (and apparently a bunch of other companies from the searches I've been doing) - didn't seem to think that if you could write a format, you'd ever need to read it? That'd be like writing Portuguese perfectly but not having a clue what you just wrote :p . My drive is a Lite-On 40125S. It supports full RAW-DAO/96 for both read and write - so it should be able to read CD+G in software mode even if not in hardware - atleast so I've heard. I can play the CD's fine in my laptop, so I know they work, but it has hardware CD+G support for the software players I've used.

Does anyone know how to either get a BIOS flash for it that makes it read CD+G (and any others they may have left out) or where I can get software that renders at the software level from sub-channel data? I've even tried CDRWIN. It extracts it - but the video is just flickering whenever there are screen changes - no words or anything. Thanks!

PS: I also have an Artec 16x DVD - but I only purchased this for DVD use and didn't worry about CD+G or anything since I thought my CDRW supported it. However if you know how to make it work - that would be cool too. Thanks again!

don't think it's a problem with your burner - still some freeware out there and what are you using to play the CD?

there's a plug in for winamp here (http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/cdgplugin/)

I have the winamp CDG plugin, but I think it only works on MP3/WMA+G doesn't it? I'm also using CDG Disc Player when playing directly from the drive. It plays fine on my laptop, which supports reading karaoke discs. I know my drive can read it in RAW format, just not as the standard (although it can write it!). Even a virtual drive that can present CD+G discs would be okay, but I have Daemon Toolz, Alcohol120% virtual drive, and CloneCD Virtual drive - none of them will show the karaoke format (atleast not that I can figure out). I've tried ripping CD+G in RAW format from CDRWin too - but that doesn't seem to work.
