b: Doing homework and internet research, (by sharing a net connection with my current PC
c: Playing VERY basic games
d: Basic pic editing (no more than one pic at once) and printing them through my current PC

Ba! I would build my own! But it is my parents! They think i cant!

They thing the reason my old computer never worked, was because of me! I the entire 3 years of having it, trying to fix it! The only HUMAN induced accident, was my gran pulling out the power whilst defragmenting! BAAAADDD idea! My photos went corrupt and i lost 2 months Digital camera snaps! And if that wasnt ban enough, the filesystem was corrupted, and i kept loosing pictures! And my dad had wrecked my CDRW so i couldnt backup!

THey think all that was because of MEEE! Even though, when i first switched on that PC it froze!

Ill make an attempt at convincing them to let me build my own, it is that they are scared ill botch it and theyl have to shell out MORE money - which they dont have :x

We are aiming for under £400, and really we only need a 1.5GHz celery, but we cant find any stores that sell less that 2.0GHz P4's!
We want it to have an AGP 4x slot for upgrades and at least 2 PCI slots.... and preferably a quiet PC. It needs to be compatible with upgrades in case it needs to be used for more than we planned - so should i get a P4 or Athlon? :t

Where can you get computer spare parts in the US or Canada? Because my aunt, who lives in New Jersey, wants to build herself a PC so I'm helping her to ask around.

Thanks...

But you could prolly build one yourself for £200.

Cwin, build one yourself, it's a LOT cheaper, and you learn in the process.

For spare computer parts search google and you'll get so many companies in the U.S. that sell them you can spend the next two weeks picking out the best deals.
Be careful of anything you buy off E-Bay. Not to say there are not some good deals there you just need to know what your getting because sometimes the seller doesn't know what they really have.:)

Yeah, there's a real business opportunity there. Dabs and ebuyer are OK (along with the various other little suppliers), but not a patch on what newegg offer :(
