Ok, I will place an order for the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe and a Barton 2500 thru Newegg on Monday. Which memory would work best
(speed, performance, stability) with it for Dual Channel Memory if I get two 256 chips?

My options:

CRUCIAL PC3200
CRUCIAL PC3500

CORSAIR XMS PC3200
CORSAIR XMS PC3500

Easy Newegg has you covered. Look at your mobo link. Then click SPECS tab. It will give you the recommended ram by asus for that main board, That easy. Personally I do know the crucial ddr400 (pc3200) IS on the approved list.:t

Ok, after research I am going Corsair. Keeping in mind it is the same price to get TWINX as it is to match two sticks seperately, my options on Newegg are:

TWINX512-3200C2 $120
TWINX512-3200LL $162

TWINX512-3700 $172

Is the one Latency number difference between the two 3200 models the ONLY difference? Is it worth the $42? If so, for ten bucks more I could invest in the 3700. I know it would be a waste for right now and not work at top potential, but on a future mobo release I could benefit from the performance increase.

P.s. Black or Platinum is just a color option or is the platinum a "better" one?

I am not all that enamored of this "super-RAM" phenomena. I will gladly use CAS3 RAM that otherwise exceeds specs - like PC3200 in an nForce2 board. As long as you can overclock the CPU without the RAM jamming up, you're doing good.

I like the Crucial PC3200 because it works. I would likely be just as happy with the "cheap" Corsair on your list - as long as it's PC3200 or better.

I agree BPB. If its on the list and works get it. Good name brand is what really counts. Most timings are less noticeable then a higher fsb anyway as its a great increase in bandwidth. The speed your looking at they get lots more cas3 out of the bins then cas2/2.5 hence the lower price. They keep getting little faster but like CPU's you loose that value after a certain price jump:t

Corsair is the way to go if you don't mind paying a little more... Thats what i'm using in my systems and i've been extremely happy with it.

Never had problems with either company. That matched pair BS is just a way to get an extra 20 off you. They don't need to be matched. NONE of mine were, and I tried a total of 6 sticks out of curiousity. Long as they were bought at the same time from the same place, they will work as it's the sme batch, thus the same chips. For them to check if EVERY pair is matched would cost them way to much in overhead.

Don't go for the LL, you can still get 2-2-2-5 from Corsair 3200PT without a vdimm raise on the 8rda+ as it runs the ram at 2.65 instead of 2.5 default (though you can set it to 2.5 if you wish). I was able to do it with some old 2700 Corsair sticks actually as well, though had to knock the vdimm up a bit as they were early model 2700's as I bought them at that time. Still same batch, it worked. It isn't worth paying that much more to get performance you can get for free. It would help SLIGHTLY in benches running at 2-2-2-5 instead of 2-3-3-6 that the PT version runs at. If your overclocking you'll get a little more headroom I'd imagine befor you have to drop your latencies or your other timings, but not 40 dollars worth of perfomance, more like a dollar's worth if that.

Just go by asus or nvidia's site to see what ram they recommend if you aren't sure. I know Corsair works on them, as well as Kingston Hyper X, TwinMOS (though with slightly lower overclocks from what I've HEARD, not seen), some Crucial, don't know about all, and quite a few others. I just stick to Corsair for my personal machines, and have used Kingston and Crucial in the past with them not causing me any problems. Can't vouch for the TwinMOS (though I know some are running it, that's all I can say - and i don't know if it's dual channel). As for the other companies, I haven't bothered with them as I haven't had to.
