Rite so if i get
OEM AMD XP3000+
Vantec Aeroflow cooler XP3000+ (i was lookin at that site before u posted it) :p

Will i still need to get some Thermal Greese?

If so is the Arctic Silver 3 Compound (from www.overclock.co.uk ) ne good?

Cheers!!

Just noticed you asked about grease. A tube (enuff for about 20 cpu's) comes in the box. That starz brand or whatever that is, the only amd aproved paste they make.:t

What box does it come in?
The OEM box or the box of AS3?

Yes ammok he could spend twice as much to get a couple of degrees lower temps.
But as I remember he said "at a good price"

you won't get em cheaper this side of the atlantic, and the pabst fans are only £14, i got three for £29+vat, bargain.

And price is not always total cost of ownership, a SLK800 would do any future upgrade as well, real good coolers.

ps they also got 3gm of artic silver thre for £7, got some. enuff there for a dozen changeovers, bargain.

oh and on temps, my 2500 barton at 2233mhz on ONE fan(with the slk800) is running at 38c, thats cooler than my 1.4 tbird. well chuffed.

So you are saying that it is a bargain to pay 59 pound for what your suggesting compared to 25 for the Vantec aeroflow.
:x
Way to save money!

£68 for me, didn't realise they were only up the road a bit and paid for delivery. And if you want a real good cooler, say becuase you overclock a bit, then the sllk800 is the mutts knutts. And worth every penny, not to mention the scrap value in copper when you grow out of it all.:D

Vantec is 2-3c at max load less. At idle the are dead even! And thats at 100watts about 20% higher than the watts of the fastest cpu-3200+ they make. So the 3-4c delta dif become about 1-2c! Thats not worth 50% more cash. If you think twice the $ for a whole 2c at max laod is worth it-go fo rit. But not in my eyes. Nor is it gonna allow you to clock higher really-OR run faster cpu then aeroflow. The aero is rated for 3200+ and above. Uhmm you gota 4000+ there ya need to cool or what. The 3200+ is more then likely the end of the road for 462 socket. AMD says it is anyway. SO whatcha gonna upgrade to-when it already runs the max cpu for this type mobo? AND OCLOCKS it well to boot! Get the Vantec and be little richer. Really $60 on air cooling is a waiste of $. Gonna spend that kinda $ on cooling go the whole way and go water! I mean comeon you can get a good cpu for that price muchless a aircooler for it. $40 is as high as I'll EVER go for air cooling.:t
