I cant seem to make out why i have different IPs that are coming out when i type ipconfig/all and www.whatismyip.com. I have a toshiba cable modem and a linksys router connected together. I have a Dynamic address that RCN cable company dishes out for me. The IP address is 64.121.xx.xx. But when i typed from the IE, whatismyip.com, im getting a different IP which is 208.59.xx.xx. Arent they suppose to be the same??

I already do the release and renew but its still the same. I tried connecting directly to my cable modem (without linksys). Its still the same.

what do u think guys?? please help me out..thanks..

oh i already contacted RCN and they told me that the current IP on lease is the 64.121.xx.xx....so where does the 208.59.xx.xx come from??

The IP configie thing does not show the external IP.

It shows the Internal IP and the DNS Server that your ISP is using.

The 200 number is the DNS.

you are right! but i forgot to tell that i did IPCONFIG when i was directly connected with my cable modem, otherwise i go the linksys router connection status to see the WAN IP address that is leased for me by RCN.

I have a web server, sql server and exchange server setup...im just wondering if such mismatch will negatively affect the way DYNDNS (my dns provider) find my server, both Ahost and MX records. I seem to have network connection problem like immediately after this thing occured..coz it used to be the same WAN IP for both IPCONFIG and whatismyip.com. Probably its a whole different issue. but just the same, i just wanna count this off my list of suspects.

anyway can shed light to this pls?? thanks...
