Hi folks,

Can someone give me some idea how is the performance of WD 120Gb 1200JD 7200rpm 8MB cache SATA HD ? I couldn't find any review on the web so far.

Should I buy this drive or just buy a Seagate 80GB SATA HD instead.

Please help !

The 8mb cache should make it somewhat faster than the Seagate

looks like a pretty good drive.

I saw alot of failed before one year, but it was the same guy saying that he over volted the 12v line and burned out the motor, so it's not the drive's fault.

however there where some fails in the drive, and WD did replace the drives ASAP. Looks like they actually where aware, shame on WD, I love their drives, but

I would go for the Seagate 80GB Model. Depending on what you are going to use the drive for. If you are going to use it for back up, to me SATA isn't really worth it. If you are going to use it for your main system drive. The 80GB would be perfect.

I think it's important to note that the review of the 1200JB drive doesn't perfectly represent the performance and reliability of the new 1200JD drive that the original poster was refering to.

Nearly the same drive, just they ripped the IDE interface out for SATA instead.
