Partitioning is dividing the hard disk into seperate portions where each portion will appear as a seperate drive. just imagine a pie chart where there are 3 parts for example. Each part would have its own drive letter after formatting.

Look here (http://pub51.ezboard.com/fxtreme89487frm15.showMessage?topicID=49.topic) for partitioning tips! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Partitioning a hard drive is dividing it up in to smaller chunks, such that each chunk is a "virtual" drive, with it's own drive letter, it allows you to place data in different places to allow you to back up with greater ease, and also to reduce the size of the clusters, and thereby save space..I generally will partition a larger drive in two or three partitions..one with the OS..one for programs..and one for games..here is a link with info on how to do it

Have at it!
