Listers,
I recently attempted to install Norton SystemWorks Pro 2003 on my Windows 2000 Pro (SP 3) machine. I had been using SystemWorks 2002 and installed the 2003 version over the old version.
This solution was not satifactory, as I was getting error messages during shut down of my machine. I kept receiving an error message stating that CCapp.exe could not be properly shut down by windows. Using Live Update did not solve this problem.
I decided to completely remove Go Back and SystemWorks 2003 from the machine. I then deleted all folders containing Go Back and SystemWorks.
I then installed Windows Service Pack 4 (SP 4). After the installation of SP 4, I re-installed SystemWorks. However, I have been unable to install Ghost 2003 and Go Back 2003. Each time I attempt to install these products, the automated installer tells me it is UNINSTALLING these items. I can not get the installer to re-install these components. How can I resolve this issue? I've tried using Symantec's online tech support, but I haven't been able to find any useful info there.

Bad Dog,
Thanks for the reply. I removed SystemWorks 2002 Pro per the recommended way. It seems to have left items behind in the registery, which makes the 2003 version think it's still there.
I've been considering uninstalling 2003, re-installing 2002 then uninstalling 2002 AGAIN.
By your comment, I assume you've been down this road before?

Bad Dog,
The link you supplied deals with removing Antivirus. I have no problems there. It's Ghost and Go Back that I can't seem to get to uninstall then reinstall properly.

As long as they are not being used by any other products, I delete all Norton and Symantec folders. I use the search for this.
and I all so do it in the registry(At your own risk). Norton's web page also list the steps for removing all products.

Bad Dog,
Using the link you sent, I managed to find the knowledge base article on manually deleting Ghost. I'll give that a try next.
Thanks!:t

Also to remove these files, they can not be in use by a program. you may have to stop a service or a program to remove some files.
