Is it possible? The laptop I have is the acer 803LCi with the following specs:

Processor 1.6GHZ INTEL PENTIUM M PROCESSOR "INTEL CENTRINO MOBILE TECHNOLOGY"

Memory 512MB DDR-266 SDRAM (UPGRADEABLE TO 1024MB)

Hard Drive 60GB

VGA ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 WITH 64MB DDR RAM AND 4X AGP GRAPHICS

Optical DVD/CD-RW COMBO DRIVE

Network 10/100 ETHERNET, 802.11B WLAN

Modem V.90 56KBPS DATA/FAX MODEM

OS MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL

Display 15.0" SXGA+ TFT-LCD (1400X1050)

Weight 5.7 LBS.

OSD 4-IN-1 PCMCIA CARD READER - SD, SM, MMC, MS

The box lists that it requires direct x 9.0 drivers, but the ati radeon mobile 9000 is only compatible with dx 8.1 Does this mean I can't run vice city on this system? or should i just get gta3 instead??

Please help thank you.

just make sure u have dx9 installed... when i installed Vice City on my comp (gf4MX440) all it needed was a few extra files for some purpose of its own.

iceblue, if the video card won't support directx9, then he can't run it.

nvidia is different. I have a 420MX and DirectX 9.0a, game runs a bit choppy if the video card isn't teaked :(

Welcome to SysOpt ! :)

Will be just fine. Install DX9. Run the game. Enjoy life :t

must be a pretty big difference between the 440 and 420 it seems. and surely u must have a better processor then me, since i'm powered by an aging pentiumIIIŽ and it runs smooth like every other game ive installed.

Software emulation. You mite not get all the eye candy, but it will be ok. The game could have used a randomizer for the pedestrians though. I hated seeing the same figures over and over

yea, I got a 2500+ Barton oce'd to a 3200+

I think that the fault is in the ram on the video card.

The DDR400 on this system is getting bored waiting for the SDRAM on the video card to finish dishing out the processes,

HUH, I dont think new agp systems can have that problem. LOL. Try useing fast writes (by pass mem-right from cpu to video mem) and USWC in bios. LOL your ddr400 just become bored for real-as it'll be doing next to nill for video.:p
