Im trying to install Linux mandrake on my computer, and im having some troubles...im trying to do this from within windows, is that even possible, or do i need to format first?...when i put the first CD in the drive, something comes up blah blah blah, i click install and it says it will proceed when i reboot, then reboots in 10 seconds or somehting like that, then aftr it boots to the CD, some options screen comes up, and after i pick recommended or typical install or something like that....the screen goes black and nothing......nothing at all, so i restart, reboot windows and nothing has been copied over at all, any idea how i can install some linux on my computer? ive always wanted to try a version/type of linux(especially because of the whole free thing haha), but this makes 2 times in the past that it hasnt worked for me on 2 different comps.

perhaps i am missing something

http://doc.mandrakelinux.com/MandrakeLinux/91/en/Quick_Startup.html/

the above link has some good info on installation.

I would advice you to go thru this, first, before the install.

good luck:t

thanks, ive read all of that which applies to me, i set it up in a basic text mode, however its pretty glitchy, the refresh rate when im at the desktop must be somewhere around 45 Hz, its installed and set to english, however half of it is in what i think is Italian haha, so i didnt even bother wasting my time, windows is fine with me for now
