There is a website which I periodically need to access for work. I have two computers networked together, both running Win 98 SE. My computer is the internet server and my husband's is the client. I can access the site without any problems on his computer. On my computer, however, I cannot get past the search page.
The site is accessed through www.trueautomation.com. From there, I click on the PACS Web Client-DB and choose the county appraisal district I wish to search (usually Lee). I get a screen where I can enter my search criteria and click on the search button. Then, I get a "Page cannot be displayed" error message. If I click "refresh", I get the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Providor for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] [SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '='.
/clientdb/searchresults.asp.line 92
My husband and I both use Internet Explorer 5.5.
Any clues how to solve this problem?
Thanks.

I just tried it exactely as you described step by step, and it does work
maybe you might want to give another Browser a try
www.mozilla.org version 1.4 is very good
:t
that's what i was using when i ran the search

Well, if I use Netscape, I cannot even get to the search page. It seems to go into some sort of endless loop. And since Netscape is built on Mozilla, how would that make a difference?

I downloaded and installed Mozilla 1.4. Using this browser, I could get to the search page, but when I typed in a name to search and clicked on search, it took me back the search page rather than actually doing a search. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

one main reason is their DNS is not setup properly
nothing you can do about that.
but something you can do is to use the Drop Down Box
and look for LEE CAD (Live) on the pick list
I've tried it also (the Search link) on IE 6 and Opera
they all have the same trouble, it's a WEB site server problem, not a web browser problem

I do that. I can get to the Lee CAD search page. It's what happens next that is the problem. I cannot perform a search.
If I contact their webmaster, do I need to quote the exact error I'm getting?
Thanks for your assistance. It's nice to know I'm not incompetent.:)

not yet....
okay from this page
http://65.107.178.35/clientdb/default.asp
i selected Lee CAD (Live)
then i searched by Owner, using LEE as the search item
and it returned me lots of stuff
so it should work for you too

Still doesn't work.
When I followed your link and chose Lee County, and then put in a name to search, all I got was the same screen with the name on it. This is with Mozilla.
For grins, I opened Internet Explorer and plugged in the url you had, chose my county and entered a name. When I clicked on "search", I received a "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" message.
Obviously, it must be something in my computer which I have set wrong or something, but I cannot figure it out.
For what it's worth, I have always had this problem. At one time, I could access the appraisal district site through "leecad.org", but somebody hacked the site, and the only way to access it now is through the trueautomation.com site. Before the leecad.org was hijacked, I had no problem accessing the site. Go figure.
Thanks again for your assistance.

For what it's worth, I'm connecting via satellite (direcway), running behind WinProxy 5.0 with Norton Internet Security and Anti-Virus. But I had this problem before we switched to satellite.
Again, thanks for your assistance.

Okay, I finally broke down and called Direcway because I was having problems with more and more websites. Turns out I had my browsers misconfigured. Things appear to be solved now.
Thanks for your assistance and patience.:t
