Went to Dell support and got the flash file for XPSR--- bios which are all the same file. I have it on a floppy opened, and it says to insert it and reboot. I know I read on the forum what I should back up before doing this, Would appreciate it if you would be kind enough to advice me in the right steps. Thanks Pops

just reboot with the disk in(make sure in bios that your floppy is the 1st device you boot to) and just follow the instructions. its pretty straight forward, just dont turn the machine off in the process until it tells you it was successful. also, if it gives you the option to save the old bios DEFINITELY do so. if not just make sure you have the right image. very, very important. normally you would need a system boot disk to start with, but in this case i think you just need the bios image. check the version of your bios, then check what it is after you flash it. if the numbers are correct and the machine boots fine, you did fine.
also, after you flash and reboot, load the setup defaults in bios, save and exit. then you can always go back and tinker with what you need to. good luck and let us know what happens.........
