Hey all

A laptop was just ordered for me, and the lap has a Dell TrueMobile™1300 WLAN (802.11b/g, 54Mbps) miniPCI Card.
Along with this order is a Dell™TrueMobile™1184 Wireless Broadband Router.

When it arrives, as far as the hardware, it would be -> My Cable Modem plugs into the Dell Wireless Broadband Router, plug my desktops Ethernet card straight to the router, and my lap can do the wireless thing.

Does the above setup sound correct? Please tell me if this workable.

Could I have bought a special modem that would take the place of my cable modem and the wireless router I am receiving from Dell?

Thanks for any help. :)

Pax

not that I've seen. why do you need an all-in-one anyways?

Your setup is correct keep this way.

In the computer world “Combos” are most of the time inferior products.

Links posted to this question (assumedly the same person posting as the post is identical) in HardOCP's network forum. several combo units. I think I only saw one with integrated wireless.
