Check this out...

Now, I'll be the first to say I am not a real big supporter of Big Blue, but this is way cool stuff. I read a review on a nanogate developed the end of last year that would allow the precise flow control of individual red blood cells.

Am I the only one who thinks this stuff is cooooollll?

Nifty, mabye this is the next step for processor speeding (>20ghz)?

That is a bit over my head. But it was some interesting reading.

There have been discussions that nanotech could actually lead to terra-hertz processors, integrated into the bio-med field. Such processors would be about the size of the head of a pin, and be able to control functions of the extremities of paraplegics. Can you imagine? I have a few handicapped friends, and just imagine someone like that, who is only able to barley control his head, being able to compete in the Olympics! How cool would it be to see Christopher Reeves and Dr. Stephen Hawkins in a marathon? They are talking within the next 10 to 15 years.

Who says we chose the wrong profession?

ever heard of a bucky ball??....

that's all that those nano tubes are - bucky balls cut in half and extended in both directions. indeed there are some interesting properties, and some really cool potential uses for this technology!

i'm still reading it!

thx

What you said, this stuff is friggin amazing and even cooler i'll be alive to see it all and more.

Its some really cool stuff with way better applications then faster CPUs.

But its a VERY scary technology too, Just imagine it in the hands of someone like Saddam. Or some getting out of control.

Great reference zskillz. The fullerines (Buckyfullerines a.k.a. bucky balls) were first identified in 1985.

Here's a pic of "Hairy Balls".. (lol - no joke)

Spanky, I think that like any technology, it will all eventually get around. I believe that the leaders of the field that control the research will always retain the upper hand. Sadam could only hope to have the technological skills and ability in his lilttel 3rd world country.

After all - he doesnt have SYSOPT does he? Well, there ya go!
