Do you enable the "do not correct subchannel data" option? I've heard The Sims have intentionally but something bad in the disc to trick CD-writers.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off: I assume that this is for legitimate backup of your legally owned software:

I used the defaults as well. It seems to me that I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it using the copied CD in order for it to work.

NOTE: not all CD recorders can copy subchannel data check the list to see if your writer is on it.

Default worked for me, but I am having problems making a copy (legitimate) of tribes 2. Any advice http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

If this following link is a violation of the AUP, please remove it... but the site is there for backup copy reasons and for those who look for no-CD (in the CDROM) patches while playing their legitimately-purchased game.

See what you can get out of this, wombat: http://gcw.viperws.com/games/pc_tribes_2.shtml

I cloned my backup at default values. I stil havent registered it yet but after 2 successfull game backups I think Clone deserves some money. Plus burning at 2X is two slow. I tried burning RAW backups with Nero a few times but was unsuccessfull. Clone Cd seems like a good program.

Backups are very necessary with kids. I lost a few programs before I started backuping up cds.

I believe I left that as default.

Guys any idea what protection "Swat3" and "Escape form Monkey Island" is under? Can't burn them properly. The burned CD-R of these games doesn't work. BTW, I have the RETAIL versions of the game. Not cheating here. Just want backup. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

RH71,
Tried those patches and no-cd but they don't work (bummer) I don't mind using the CD on my computer but I always make a backup and store in in my closet just in case. Tribes 2 will not copy or clone correctly. I might have to wait a while, I'm sure new add-ons will be avail for cloneCD to cover more protection issues.

There's a program called Perfect copy that works with CDClone and what it does is scan the CD that's going to be copied and detects the protection on it. Then it transfers this to CDClone and selects the right options for you. I think it can be downloaded from www.Gamecopyworld.com (http://www.Gamecopyworld.com)

Downloaded Perfect copy. Will not install, say that my windows installer is not new enough. The search continues. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You can also try a proggy called BlindRead/BlindWrite. It does a great job copying protected cd's for your personel use.

I have tried (and failed) to backup my copy of Black & White. My drive doesn't read it so well, either. Both are because it is protected by Safedisc 2 encryption.

Not all CD-RW's can read it or write it properly.

Here is a list of those that (apparently) can. http://www.geocities.com/pcp-freak/4cdfreaks/SafeDisc2.html

That may be your problem.

Also check out a proggie called InstantCD/DVD by VOB http://www.vob.de/us/products/consumer/InstantCD/index.htm, if you're innerested. I haven't tried it - but who knows? Might be what the doctor ordered. Looks promising, by the website.
