Incoming call notification on 56K?

I'm looking for a sofware utility that notifies me of an incoming (phone) call when i have a 56k internet connection running.

Callwave is not of interest as it is not available to anybody in europe.


Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved as always.:D

THE Software is FREE, the SERVICE is NOT

cuz you need to SIGN UP in your PHONE company for that option

if you don't it will not work even if you get the software

I just went call divert to my mobile when I was on Dial up..........:p

Caller recognition on top of call waiting huh ............ Nice......... Of no use to me but nice all the same :)

Allgamer: thats the problem i encountered when i checked out callwave.
j.m. : I currently use this option but theres a problem. I have an isdn line - which means two numbers...for some reason when the phone is diverted, both lines are diverted..which means i cant use the internet when its diverted.
Now i know this doesnt make sense, but its all part of the telecoms ****-up with have where im at. Getting support on the matter from the phone company...its not an option, dont even go there.

Cancel & go with a different telecoms provider......That'll get ya the service you've allways dreamed of :t

you can get 1 year free of that incomming call pop up service, if you use AOL ....LOL :D :r

j.m. - thats logical thinking ...but its a case of a country with a duopoly....& actually for the most part, a monopoly. The main telecoms company where im at is the equivalent of BT in the old days. They have control of the infrastructure ..so they really dont give a **** and abuse their position, disrupting the services offered by its competition...who are effectively reduced to the role of resellers. :mad:


Still, the people will rise against them ultimately...the process is well underway...its just going to take a lot of time and effort.


Allgamer - dont have AOL - did use them in another european country a few years back and wasnt a big fan. However, if they were a service provider here, they certainly couldnt do any worse than what we've got!

I have a 56K V.90 modem, call-waiting is not available to me, but I have the BT (British Telecom) answerphone service.

Every time someone phones when I am online, the person phoning can leave a message without cutting me off?

I thought that only V.92 modems were able to not cut off a connection when a call comes in.

Anyone know why this is not the case with me?
