Reminder/Calendar

Hi, I am looking for some kind of program that would serve as a reminder and/or scheduler that would put an icon on my desktop on or before de designated date.
I am using Calendar 2001, a shareware, but the reminder function only work on the designated date, at boot up. Well, I never turn off my computer so this doesnt work for me.

I just use Outlook 2000 for that..
it does what I need.
