We use Outlook 97 on a WAN, NT server. When sending messages to anyone outside the WAN we cannot get the delivery of messages read to work. I have already checked the properties of new messages and both boxes (read receipt requested & delivery receipt requested) are checked. And, I tried this: after typing in the outside parties e-mail address, clicked on tools, chose check names, right clicked the name, checked properties and made sure the "always send to this recipient in MS Outlook rich text format" was cleared. And, last but not least checked the tools, options, sending and made sure the "tell me when all messages have been delivered" and "tell me when all messages have been read" were checked off.
Any suggestions?

RM, Have the same problem. We too use Outlook at work on an NT environment. Replies work fine on intranet but not from outside. I have sent myself stuff from work to home and have noticed that I am prompted when opening the message at home "if i want to send a receipt reply". Don't know if all browsers do this or not, this was from Netscape. Have you ever tried this yourself with your system? Might be that the people you are sending to, outside your system, or electing NOT to to send a "receipt reply".
