Dont know much about the chieftec ones.....

I was in the same situation as you...was advised to stay with a good manufacturer...wanted a good power supply..but didnt want to pay the world for it....

I eventaully purcahsed a 431W Enermax PSU which has manual fan speed adjuctment which is pretty cool. I found this at www.aria.co.uk at a cheaper price than what urs is....I dare say that it is also a better supply. The same power supply is costing £60-£70 at other online stores..!

Here's a comparison including a Chieftec:

Try a Thermal Take 420w PSU for £41.13 (retail) from www.microdirect.co.uk who is my supplier of choice at the moment. Great prices, great service, and a work trade account to get things even cheaper, lovely!

According to the Tom's article, the Chieftec appears to be a solid respectable unit, though not as good as Fortron, Zalman or the Antec TruePower series, so if you can get one of those for a good price, that'd be better, but if not the Chieftec should do nicely.
