If your having trouble identifying a startup program , this list is the most comprehensive I've seen. The site is geared to "provide a central resource for PC users and Tech Support staff alike who are concerned about the poor performance of their PCs due to the number of programs that run at system start-up".

A good bookmark to have.

Here's another good one: Task List

"Through our support service we often come across problems caused primarily by programs running in the background, programs which in most cases start at the same time as Windows. Sometimes these programs are useful and need to be there; quite often, however, they are not needed, and in too many cases they cause severe problems."

On Personal computers

the best is to TURN Absolutely Everything OFF in Services, StartUp, and Run Keys

then turn them on as you need, that way you know exactely what you need :t
