Startup Problems...What can I do?

Last night I downloaded some games etc, I installed them, Now eversince the startup has gone wrong, e.g Norton antivirus does'nt start automatically (it does'nt display its icon in tray), Same with sound controls....
This gets to me because they are still configured to do so....
I,ve tried uninstalling the games and altering the options to the anti virus but to no avail. I,m now out of options...
I'd appreciate any comments or advice thanks alot..

I would go to
www.cnet.com (http://www.cnet.com) and download the cleaner and run a check to see if you downloaded something else also. A lot of the newer viruses will block or disable your antivirus programs.
If you come up clean with it. Then I'm not sure what is going on. I haven't ever seen that happen on 98. I thought I had seen most of the problems with it. I have been running it for 3 years now.

did you try to uninstall in safe mode?

Or have any of the things you downloaded casued some conflicts? I had a driver confict and it messed with norton, and I got splash screens when the program wasn't starting... Can you run Norton System Works Windows Doctor?
