Ok this might sound like I've gone slightly crazy, but I need to slow down my internet connection.

Now to explain why. I'm making a new website and its quite graphically intensive. I have ADSL so it loads quickly for me, but I want to see what it will be like for a 56k user so need to slow down my connection. I'm using a USB modem so cant fiddle with the connection speed in the same way you would an ethernet connection so wondered whether anyone knew how I could do it or if there was a program to help?

You can always buy a limited-time dial-up account. I pay $10/month for unlimited time because I pay a local ISP 6 months ahead of time. Many ISPs offer like 10 hours/month for a reduced price.

some of the website editor software programs will also "estimate" download times at 28.8 and 56k (I think FrontPage even does it but I don't use it) - what software you using to build your site?

yeh i use dreamweaver which does tell me, but your read 5 seconds or whatever and you dont really get a true understanding of how that will load. Right now I'm dealing with it by temporarily downloading linux in the background, but still looking for an alternative.

When I had adsl a few hours per month of dial-up was included. Check with your isp.
