to disable documents menu:
1. run the Registry Editor (REBEDIT.EXE)
2. open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer.
3. Double-click on the NoRecentDocsHistory value in the right pane-if it's not there, create a new binary value by that name.
4. change 00,00,00,00 to 01,00,00,00
5. Repeat the last two steps on the NoRecentDocsMenu value.
6. you'll have to restart Windows for the change to take effect...

Here's a good FAQ (http://www.winguides.com/registry/article.php?id=1)
And there's www.regedit.com (http://www.regedit.com) . RegeditX.exe is a handy extended version of regedit.exe.
