I'm dual booting with win 2k but it now takes twice as long to burn a cd than with win 98se (12-15 mins as opposed to 6). I have sp2 installed, no difference whether via ide bus master installed or not. Setup is tbird 750 @1000, MSI K7T PRO 2A, 256 ram, Plextor 12/10/32 with plextor manager 2000 with latest update, Nero 5.5.
Also Nero only burns at 8x instead of 12, I thought it's supposed to be the best burning software, even adaptec burns at 12x. What's up with that?
Help much appreciated.

I dont have your answer because in my w2k all is well with my burner...clone cd, Nero 5.09 and adaptec 4.02..they all work great so its not w2k that is your problem but something else....the above link has your answer if you will do a bit of reasearch because it covers everything you could ever want to know about cd's and recorders...and if that doesnt help then go here

Yep, it's definetly not Win2k that's the problem. I'm using Adaptec EZ CD 4.02 and Padus DiskJuggler on my Win2k and have no problems of such... 1X = 150KB and that's what it should be burning at regardless of OS.

Fixed it by enabling DMA. As usual with windows not an intuitive task. FYI see the link below. http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53763
