I had a little trouble with my CH F16 Combatstick, and after determining that the problem was in the cable I went on their web site to order a new one. I saw that they had most of their gameport sticks drastically reduced in price. I contacted tech service and asked about the clearance sale. I was e mailed back that gameport is dead, and CH has stopped making gameport devices and is unloading their stock. And I quote... " Do you want to return the cable or have the Combatstick repaired? Please don't buy any more game port controllers, the game port is dead. Any money spent on game port controllers is wasted as things are only going to get worse not better for game port controllers. The reason we have them on sale is they are the last of the last production run of our game port Combatsticks (from more than two years ago). Look into USB, if not mine then someone else's as game port is dead and a waste of your money. "

I guess my question is wether USB is superior to gameport technology? I don't know about ya'll but I've got alot of money invested in gameport devices, and I can't see throwing them out and buying all USB.
Are any other game device manufacturers taking this stance as well?
Sorry about the venting, but I hoped with all the changes in processors, video cards, ect. that somethings would remain that would'nt need to be upgraded.:(

USB seems to be the new 'in thing' quite hillarious given the fact that most of the tech world cant even fathom it out themselves and that it draws from CPU cycles/system resources.

A wise man would use as few USB devices as humanly possible

While thi sis true and I agree keep in mind that not only as cpu's get faster and since only one usb device is used when gaming. the load isnt all too bad. But on top of that instant paddle calibration. Know how many gameport pads I had cali probs with where you were always redoing it etc. USB its pluged in-its ready to go. Secondly you dont have to reboot to use it-just plug it in and rip at a game or two. gameport you either have a clucky gamepad ther all the time OR you have to shutdown and crawl in back of pc every gameing sesion! Gameport is DIEING not dead. In 5 years- you wont find any devices but prolly still see prots on mobo's (internal audio) and soundcards. All audio has midi-hence has gameport.;)
