Is Serial ATA the same as ATA100-133?

In that the actual transter speed of ATA133 isn't 133mb/sec? Does SATA follow the same misleading effects? 150mb/sec?

The transfer rate will not be at the maximum, like the ata133. The likelihood is that in the not too distant future someone will come along with a better architecture for parallel devices that'll allow chaining. It just seems a shame to go back to a serial device from a parallel one.

I have just installed a Maxtor 120gig 8mb SATA150 and it feels about the same as two Maxtor 80gig ATA133 on Raid0 for performance.

I reckon my WD ATA133 with 8meg cache is just as fast - certainly opened a 500meg file in the same range of times as the SATA. 4.5sec-21sec (low as 1.9sec on reopening - must have been still resident in RAM?)

But all that aside am not sure if this is all that important as other computer operations seem to have greater effect on my waiting.

My hope for the SATA is the recent drivers and hopefully less problems when throwing around huge files.

I must admit now curious what two of these would be like on Raid0.
