what is the average temp on Maxtor harddrive? mine is 40GB rpm7200 , 2mb cache. (OEM)

my room is so hot.. probably like 85F+..

my computer idle with 55C harddrive temp, cpu 50C.

i worry about if i play CS the harddrive going to be toast..

My 40GB Maxtor is running at 42°C. My CPU is at 48°C and case is 41°C.

more importantly you need to worry about your room temps - I have a buddy in Hawaii who has problems big time

get yerself some case cooling or a fan for the HDD - the heat could eventually cause a premature failure with the drive - a couple of fans (don't bother with a slot cooler)

or heck - do what I do - my computers protected on a closet shelf so I leave the side covers off :D
