Im making a computer and I want to know if a 250 power supply would be enough to run it. Here are the specs:
Soyo ATX Motherboard 133MHz FSB FC-PGA/Socket 370
Evergreen Technologies Spectra III 600MHz Processor
VisionTek GeForce2 MX Graphics Accelerator
Kingston Technology 256MB 32x64 ValueRAM SDRAM Memory
Hewlett-Packard 8x4x32 Internal CD-RW Drive
4 GB IBM hard drive
1394 OHCI FireWire card
Would you please tell me what power supply I would need. A 250 ot 300? Thanx

Since you have the option, and seeing that there is little price difference, I would go with the 300. Gives you the extra power if you want to add more.

I would get a 300watt
you never know when you have to add a new device or upgrade and you get a lot of problems setting it up. then you find out you need a better power supply
go for a 300watt+ http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I would go for a 300 also but you could run that system on 250.

Uh oh, I'm running (besides the obvious ****), 2x128mb dimm, pci soundcard, pci ethernet controller, pci 2d display controller, pci voodoo2, agp display adapter, 30gb ibm hd, philips ide cdrw through 234w power supply. Thus, it's enough to have 250w, but extra never harms =)

I believe that when it comes to Power...
More just ain't enough...Sure 250W will do
the job, Just. What about later, when you
add more toys, cooling fans, etc. I don't
really know if the power supply can affect
the speed or reliability of the system but
I'm thinking it should. I run 3 CD-Rom/RW/DVD
drives, 1-Zip, 1-Floppy, 4-Hard Drives,
3-Case Cooling Fans, 1 CPU (Golden Orb)Cooler
1-Video (mini orb) Cooler.
I also have an Antec 400W Power Supply...
If they come out with a 500W I'll probably
get it. Whenever you have the option of
going bigger for little money, you should
take it. I wouldn't pay Twice the Price
to get the 400W versus the 250W, but usually
it's only about a $20.00 difference between
the 250W and 300W, and 300W should be more
than enough for Most Systems...I would NOT
recommend it for the P4's...

I agree with Shagnasty. Go with the 300W UPS. If you should ever go with an AMD cpu, you'll need it to run stable.
