On Apple's website, they claim that their well actually IBM's G5 is the first and fastest 64-bit processors. BS. Does Steve Jobs live in a box? Intel released 64-bit CPUs a while back and AMD just released the fastest 64-bit/ 32-bit compatible CPU ever. Apple once again is making false claims. And o yeah, it is definetaly not the fastest.

you mean this link right?

http://www.apple.com/powermac/

it's not even comparing to a 64bit

just to Xeon and P4s

Either way, both links prove my point.

Whoopie ding-dong! Ok, so they did cheat on the benchmarks. It's still a Great Leap Forward* for Mac hardware, which is once again roughly on a par with PC hardware, which it hasn't been for a long time.

Ummm....no it doesn't. They're making a distinction between personal computers versus workstations and servers which are not generally sold to consumers.

Seems like it from here....

I'm in favour of macs (tho I have never used one), I like the way they are all stylish (have you noticed nearly every TV/film is using macs now-a-days...), work well and are generic, great.

I would love to have the 23" Cinema display. Man, that's awesome!

I'd love a mac, but the cheapest one is 800 dollars, and I couldn't do anything with something of it's calibur. The problem is the same one that companies like Dell, or Gateway. They make you buy upgrades in castes. You can't have a top of the line graphics card without having a top of the line everything.

However, I can choose the build my own pc. If I want to build my own mac, I have to go on a wild goose chase for used parts.

stix_kua-

Actually the reason that the new macs with the G5 processor is fast is the fact that they are running on a 900-MHz bus and the fastest bus for PC's currently is only running at 800-MHz bus! And with the new Panther version of their OS X, it is really optimized for speed! Their code on the new OS X (code name Panther) was fully developed to take advantage of the faster bus speed and the 64-bit processor. So for now, they do have the fastest on the 64-bit realm for end users!

I'm just wondering if MS would be developing their Windows XP 64-bit to be as good as Apple's Panther OS X version. Let's just hope that whatever the MS team comes out with that it would be as good if not better than what Apple has to offer. :)

BipolarBill-

I agree with you on the Apple display you mentioned. Its so nice that I wish I had one sitting in front of me right now. Hope that they start manufacturing such screens for the PC for at the more affordable price range! And soon, hopefully!:)

Ah, you can run mac monitors on pc and vise verse! You just use a $30 or so vga adaptor that has these dip switches on it for dif settings....:t

Not all of them require the adapter (DIP switches, etc) if the both have the standard 15 pin VGA pins it'll work.

True if its DB15 but not all mac mons are. Some of them are wider -dont know the pin count on macs? But theres more on some.:t

The older Mac monitor connections also had 15 pins but arranged differently, They resembled the Gameport/MIDI interface on sound cards as in this picture.

As a matter of fact if you plugged it in, it would fit but you risk damaging your monitor and or motherboard.

And way before that, Mac Monitor used the RCA type compoite cables. I still have one that only displays green and I use it with my console systems whenever the TV is in use.
