Thanks Pac Someone Stupid 06-25-2003, 01:06 AM Nearly everything, though when benching you want your systems real performance, not it's artificially boosted performance - and not much really at all. Just run the benches with what normally runs in the background. Pack'nHeat 06-25-2003, 01:19 AM ok... What are the specific names of the systems programs that need to run to keep XP running? Thank you. ichorid 06-25-2003, 12:57 PM xp will tell you if it is a necessary 'service' you cant end the vital ones  dajogejr 06-26-2003, 10:42 AM SiSoft Sandra has a good tool, especially for XP home users... I think it's called system check...or something similar..(sorry, I'm not at my home PC) It tells you a bunch of services that can be disabled for home services. You're going to have to use a little common sense with some networking protocols, like TCP IP...but...'nuff said. I turned some stuff off that wasn't even needed for my home use...server, spooler... When XP loads, from the GUI screen, the little blue "knight rider" lights only goes across the screen 1.5 times, whereas before it was 3 or 4.... Give it a shot! ch0wdy^ 06-29-2003, 03:19 PM When i run 3dmark benchmarks i just leave everything on that i would leave on during a game except my firewall program, as that would only be necessary for online play (well not necessary, but you know what i mean).
