I have just put about 20 songs that I downloaded from napster onto CD-r using NERO 5 and the write process went through great (I did a test and burn first) only to find after that the cd that I just burned was blank? There were no error messages at all and the cd wont play in any cd player - not even the burner.Is it the software? the burner (Mitsumi 4084TE).
I have other software i can try but I thought I would ask for help first.
Cheers.

Out of curiousity, what does the cd show when you look at it under windows explorer?
Also, have you tried to burn it again? Does your burner software show it as unwriteable now?

Looks as if you did the test only, and actually burned nothing. Do as suggested, check whether the disc is still writeable. Nero has, as far as I remember, option in explorer file properties for the cd to see the sessions.
(explorer-><cdrw-drive>->properties->sessions
)

Nero did both test and burn and I got the message that the burn was successful. In explorer the disc is showing as empty.
I have tried to re-use the disc and its showing it as full.
If I click my computer and see the drive that the cd is in it shows the label that I gave it but when I open it there is nothing in it!!!!
Thanks

I had the same problem with Nero. The strange thing was sometimes it would burn fine and other times it would not.

Thanks all, I think I cracked it!!. The problem, I think, that the problem is not lying with the cd programme but with the MP3 files them selves!!.I have windows media player installed and when you use windows media player to play MP3 files it changes them slightly so that they are not just MP3 files they become WMA.mp3 and its this WMA bit thats causing the problem!! WMA is not recognised by any other player except Media player..
I have just changed the files back to a MP3 and copied it using Nero cd burner and copied and played perfectly on my Hi-FI.
How do you change the WMA.MP3 files back to mp3? easy.
First open up windows media player.
when it opens up click tools on the top of the screen and then options then click formats and take a tick out of the box next to MP3 .
Now click apply and OK.
Thats it cracked I hope.
