What are the best defrag programs? a.k.a. ones that do the best job (time not an issue)
Both free and not free for Windows XP Pro.
Thank you for your time. :t

None are free that I'm aware of. Diskeeper's boot-time defrag option puts it ahead of the rest:

I use Norton Speed Disk since I already have it as part of SystemWorks and it does fine. I hear good things about Golden Bow's Vopt (http://www.vopt.com/VoptXP.htm) also.

Datz right. Open the Defrag MMC and click About.
XP's defragger can't be scheduled and lacks any real options though.

Seems my memory isn't that bad after all......(Getting old you know):D
Thanks, I got diskeeper (trial)
It finally got rid of the fragmentation on my C: drive that XP's default wouldn't.

If you can still find a copy of Diskeeper Lite you can use it indefinitly... It seemed to work faster than the default defragger in XP for me.:t
