Thanks to some wonderful help I got my neices Presario back to factory setup except for the DVD player. I have looked all over the DVD player and can't come up with a manufacturer to find a driver. I am assuming the sticker "CODE DVD-116ME" might mean something or "Compaq PN# 176253-CB1" or "CT:7445A02MNLQ2XB" or Serial Number "ADAR034691WL" but I have been unable to get them to match to a driver. Any help would be appreciated. I thought parts were suppose to have an FCC number some place?

Thanks.

You shouldn't need special driver for a DVD drive , only software to play DVD's. But, it appears its a Pioneer DVD-116.
Does it not install or not play DVD's?

Rocket's right - you may think it's not running because you don't have the software maybe?

go here (http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_list.asp?cat=Desktops&fam=Presario) hit the button that says autodetect my system, and it'l take you to the driver / software download page

careful - don't mess around with bios updates and the like - now's not the time to get fancy but you may find some updates, etc. - just see what's there and download and run what you need to to fix the problem? :D

You are both quite right. I found the software and installed it. DVD's now play!
Thanks.

for future reference, some compaq models have a system_sav partition. all the factory software is there, but it is compressed. if you use winzip, you can extract and reinstall the drivers or software without downloading from the internet or doing a restore.
