Could anyone offer a good PC case brand or a specific PC case to buy for an AMD system (preferable 350-400 watts). Also, if you could give me the website, it'd be great thx
oh ya, here's the system I'm going to build most likely :
Asus A7M266, Athlon 1.33ghz(266), pc2100 256mb (might add another one of this stick), hercules xp theater, 3com 10/100 etherntet card, plextor cd-rw, dvd drive, obviously a floppy. Haven't decided on video card since it is not necessary for me at the moment.
btw, are amd system's likely to overheat easily?

its got 300watt power supply 4 5.25 and 3 3.5 bays cost about $0 with shipping.
Amd systems get pretty hot more so when overclocked.
where are you looking for parts?

In my opinion, the best cases (quality, construction, variety) come from InWin.
You can sample their products here:
http://www.in-win.com/
My experience is that they cost a bit more than some of the others, but I think its worth it for what you get http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I love the look of the Lian Li cases.http://www.lian-li.com
There aluminium and can be thrown down stair and be fully intact, of course the parts inside might not though so I wouldn't try it.
I'd just like to add that getting a full-tower case can give you many benfits if you have tha space to put it... You'll notice that the CPU runs cooler since there's more room in the case for air circulation and it's much easier to work in a full tower-case them a mid-tower case since your hands can pretty much fit anywhere in the case. Another benfit is the number of external 5.25" bays for expansion... They usually have at least 6...
Here's a good link to PC cases:

Im getting my ram at crucial. I'll most likely get a mobo/cpu combo. I saw ASUA A7M266 + Athlon 1.33ghz(266) and thermaltke volanco II for 380 on monarch computers.com. If someone can offer a better place with this combo, it'd be great. Also, do monarch computers offer good quality??
I'll get an IBM Hard drive most likely but not sure from where..
mostly I go to pricewatch.com and look there

I went with the Enlight 7237 for an Amd 1ghz machine I just built. It's a pretty good case. I wasn't too thrilled about putting clip in drive rails on everything. They dont exactly stay where there supposed to.

I would say if your gonna go as high as 380 you might want to consider the giga_byte 7dxr it offers 3dimms as opposed to 2 and is very overclockable. if you dont want he extra dimm dont worry about it.
what size drive are you looking for?

could some people offer cases taht are great for AMD systems and have power supply approved by AMD? thx
I have a nice wee Globalwin 802, its nicely built has 2 floppy spaces, 3 CDrom spaces and about 4 internal hdd ones i think. Its a bit ugly, but i have grown to love it. I bought a PSU seperately, so i guess you could fit wahtever one you wanted. It dosent have any purpose made handles, but it has easy places to pick it up and is easy to carry.
Globalwin GW-802 Midi Tower ATX No PSU at 39.00
Macron 300Watt ATX PSU at 30.00
UK pounds, Ex vat at 17.5%.

For the antec pc case SX1240 Full Tower, It says that the power supply and motherboard is Pentium 4 Compliant.
Does that mean I will have trouble putting in AMD based motherboards ??
Also does it mean that power supply will be fault with amd based parts?

Also, could someone help me out with the I/O panel?
Im leaning towards getting hte Antec SX1240
Full Tower case but for the I/O it has a Intel "Universal" I/O Back Panel
I/O-103. And Im defeinitely getting an Asus A7M266 motherboard so how would i know if the I/O panel matches my motherboard's I/O configuration?

One suggestion I've got for the case is to go for an AOpen one. I have the HQ45A-P, with a 300W power supply. It's a nice looking case that won't break the bank. I'm not sure where it's on sale in the US, but check this page for specs:
http://english.aopen.com.tw/products/housing/hq45.htm
On that page you'll see that it's only called "HQ45-A", and this is because it is the version with a 235W PSU. However, most online stores have the "-P" version, which has a 300W power supply.
Of course, if money is no object, then go for one of those Aluminium Coolermaster cases http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
It's probably the best mid-range case that I could find over here, although I realise that in the US there is probably a bigger range to choose from, so you could find something better. I hear that Antec are pretty good.

I like my Antec KS-282+, it comes with the Antec PP303 300W PS (AMD approved).
If you set it up with more exhaust fans than intake fans, it draws air thru the side cover vents and keeps all your drives cool!
I got mine at Best Buy for $80.
Here's the specs (http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/solution.html)

I like Addtronics cases. You can take a look at them on their site www.addtronics.com. (http://www.addtronics.com.) Whatever you get, make sure that it has the capability to add plenty of cooling fans for good air circulation.

Yeah the Enlight EN-7237 is a pretty decent case, except it may seem too plain to some people. Another to note is the relative small number of expansion bays on the casing, 4 5 1/4" and only 3 3 1/2" (1 hidden), which might be a concern if you happen to have a lot of drives. Other than that, it is a solid case definitely worth recommending.
