My cousin has offered me the opportunity to work with him on a linux based application he is developing - ---- the only problem is, I know nothing about linux. I have the application redhat7.0, but ineed some reference manuals to learn along with.

which one will offer me the best overview of the application and its structure, while teaching me the most?

Regrettably, none of the Linux manuals I have encountered were written by a teacher.

I taught electronics in the Army. I would know if any of the books I have come across was written by a teacher, and I would have a copy.

"Red Hat Linux Unleashed" is the most comprehensive volume I have encountered. Everything you need to know is in there. Unfortunately, it isn't presented in a logical order, where a new user could start at Chapter 1 and an experienced user would jump in at Chapter 6. You have to determine what you need to know and find it the hard way.

Determining what you need to know is the hard part.

You can read it for free at www.informit.com (http://www.informit.com)

You have to register, but it's free. You get an e-mail once a week, but thy don't sell your e-mail address to spammers.
