Interesting to find out other users experiences of using cdr and cdrw - in particular their lifetime.
Just been testing a lot of my cdrw's - most have failed.
Simple test is to do a full format which most failed.
I noticed this as I tried to read old system backups.
My problems seem to be mainly with Traxdata (Think theyre manufactured by Plasmon) but the fail rate is quite high with these blue dye discs. Maxell are better but ive noticed even they have failed. Again blue dye discs.
Recommendations for cdrw's are not to place them in direct sunlight and 1000 burns max - These have been stored in aluminium storage cans and in plastic trays in the dark and written max 20 times - pretty poor performance.
CDR's seem to havea longer life but watch what you write on them with - Ive noticed on some written with marker pen that the acid in the marker pen has burned minute holes in the top layer.
Better to use cd-labels but also been told that they can destabilise the cd if not put on right!!! Also apparently storing Them in cardboard sleeves causes them to wear due to the acid in the cardboard!!! And here was the consumer thinking cd's were forever!!!
Whats the best cdrw's - I guess you pays for what you gets again!!!
Whats the best cdr's = In this case I find the cheap Ritek ones are ok and last a good while?
Feedback please!!!
