Ok polls generally dont do much for me, but this one holds some interest for me..

I once got an error out of SQL Server 7.0 doing a DTS package
Error
"Catastrophic Failure"
Nothing more of a message to point to what was going on!!
I now have that picture on my wall http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

What good error messages have you seen??

When I lose my direcpc satellite connection, I get an error that says "you are unable to connect to the internet, please click here for troubleshooting help." Needless to say, the help file is online lol http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I once got something like:

Fatal error: Your'e f****d

Without the stars for good taste, from the setup of the Duke Nukem3d Atomic pack.

I was so amazed by this that I took a screenshot, and sent it to the local PC magazine. Never got a reply though, so I expect they probably thought I made it up. I wish I still had that screenshot, but it was about 3 years ago...

Didn't WOLF3D (wolfenstein)have a funny message like that when the boss at the end killed you? Your ___ is mine! or something.

charmler:
I think maybe that was Doom, although it does sound familiar. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

voogru: Typical Windows error, eh? HAHA http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

The stupid compaqs @ school give us error messages like voogru's. A keyboard is plugged in, the bios says
keyboard error:
press [F1] to contiue
press [F10] to setup
Then you push [F1], the computer boot and the keyboard works fine!

I created some win95 startup splash screens and batch files which say "This computer is too crappy to run windows 95. Please shut down and buy a better computer. Have a nice day."

Then I created some batch files which say "Warning!!! This computer is infected with windows 95. Please insert Norton Priest v6.0 and press any key to contiue." Press any key and the computer boots. My teacher has a good laugh when kids call him over and show him the screen.

Right now I creating some win 3.1 dialogs which hopefully will look pretty authentic.

Linux has the best error codes, but since it never crashes, you dont see them, lol

lol, i got the guru meditation error before, somewhere, ages ago! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

theres quite a good one on easy cd creator:

errors were reported by the output device, would you like to view these errors?

(click view)

and all it says in a massive dialogue box is:

'unexpected error'

heh
pretty useless if they actually 'expected' this error dont you think!?

linux makes me laugh, whether theres an error or not!

I used to use an accounting app that had a message: Are you working late or is your system clock not set properly?

amiga "guru meditation error" mentioned above

This appeared on my cable TV channel crawl circa 1995 whenever it crashed.

Apparently they used an Amiga to run a database linked to a multi-millon $ satellite!
