I just got a power converter that primarily changes wall power to 5v @ 55a, it converts to several other sources, but it was mostly designed for 5v. Lately it has been making a clicking noise, kind of like turning up a dial real fast, then no noise for about 1.5sec, then it does it again. This somewhat concerns me, especialy because the fan (24v) in the unit only turns when it is clicking, and it can never get up to speed. Does anyone know what is wrong, and if there is a way to fix it? The fan is not important, it was only for cooling it when it was in a factory, and the unit stays nice and cool in my house, but the clicking concerns me.

It sounds like the fan is the problem maybe it has bad bearings/bushings or the fan blades are hitting something.

I agree, if you don't have a heat problem in it, just disconnect the fan.
It could also be a relay that controls when the fan comes on...

The fan is not the problem, how could I tell if it was a bad relay?

Firstly you would have to identify if there is a relay in the fan circuit, then you could just short the contacts and the fan would come on full. Not a job for the feint-hearted or electronically challenged.
If you want to go down that route, you would need to post more info.
Does sound more like a faulty fan though, you could check that seperately on a couple of 9V batteries.
Take Care !!!!!
