Hey folks,

I need to upgrade a horrendously old Dell...its a P1 200Mhz (Dimension XPS P200s). I first went to CompUSA and they were trying to convince me it was EDO. I was pretty sure it wasn't. I called Dell and they reaffirmed what I thought that it was SDRAM. I asked what type and they said 66Mhz.

So, when hunting around for this, would that be considered PC100 Ram? If you could point me in the right direction to where I can purchase a 64mb chip would be great.

Thanks in advance. :t

Try here:

http://www.crucial.com/uk/search/srchrslt.asp?keywords=66Mhz+SDRAM&type=All&ANDOR=AND&rowcount=20&cv=Crucial+UK&submit=Go

if the link disnae work then just go to www.crucial.com and do a search... I think the 64MBs start at around £16.99 (UK sterling)

Thanks for the lead. Found a dimm for $20 (US). I have to convince my mom to get rid of this beast. :)

what kind of chipset did it have? you should use a configurator like on www.pny.com or www.vikingcomponents.com to verify the max size of the dimms.

That's right - don't trust any old DIMM. If it's PC66, it's probably fine because there are no high-density PC66 DIMMs, but better safe than sorry!
