trial period software-where in the registry?

Hi all, If you install a prog with say a 30 day trial, how does it know how long its been on your system? i presume it hides in the depths of the registry but where? and can you get it to run for longer??

The only way that I know how to get it to run longer isn't legal, so i don't think Socal or Mntsnow would let me talk about it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
