I read somewhere that with the A7N8X Deluxe if one uses the IDE ports for boot device that one can not use the SATA devices at all, even for a 3rd HD.

What I want to do is change from my Abit KR7A-RAID (using IDE3 for 3rd IDE HD device - not using raid) to A7N8X Deluxe. The hope is to utilize the SATA port(s) with my currrent 3rd IDE HD device with one of those SATA->IDE adapters - basically using the SATA port as an IDE3/4 port just like the KR7A-RAID. End result would be:

IDE1 : 2 hardrrives
IDE2 : CDRW & DVD devices
SATA : 1 IDE hardrive using SATA to IDE adapter

Am I the victim of rumor? Thanks Much!

Sounds like a BS rumor to me.

Thats garbage....course you can use both the SATA ports with the IDE's. Says so in the manual. My SATA ports are disabled the now but when you get the board they are jumper enabled by default . When booting up it searches for the SATA drives much in the same way my old Abit KR7a-133 RAID did.
Sometimes wonder where these BS rumours start.

PS.. Also in case you want to boot from the SATA drive then there was a link on here not so long ago and I'm sure they just said change the boot sequence to SCSI first and it will boot to the SATA drive.

Kinda figured it was bogus. I tried to find the review/article that was claiming this. At the time, I read/re-read/re-re-read/etc... to make sure I was on the same page as this nit-wit. At anyrate, now a can buy worry free (at least about this issue). Thanks Much
