I have been in the planning stages of my best and last 32-bit system...
But now I have come down to the wire with a few choices...I have always used MSI motherboard except my first custom build which featured an Asus (that board didn't last long) All of my MSI computers have always lasted too long.
And once again, I must choose between Asus and MSI.
Should I get the Asus A7N8X Deluxe or the MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR.
Already the MSI seems a bit more enticing becuase it is cherry read and would go well with the case I have chosen. It is currently cheaper($2 less) and makes me more comfortable to be dealing with something that I have used before...
The MSI also has a Northbridge cooling fan.
I also get one all the SPDIF connectors and connecter as the Asus plus a round IDE cable....

both are very good
but as Bills put it
MSI is fancier :p if you are into case modding and LAN shows :t

I think I'll go with MSI for personal security reasons...Asus always seemed so foreign to me.
I'm not into Case modding but I prefer MSI
My friend ordered an Asus A7N8X whatever they are.. was bad out of the box, constant crashes.
RMA'd.. bought that same MSI board you are talking about.. the Delta.. but just has the onboard sound and LAN.
100% stable. Runs like a champ.
My MSI K7N2-L board.. I love it. It's great.
I would never buy anything other than MSI now. :)

My ASUS A7N8X Deluxe has been flawless, but I've always had good luck with MSI too. They're both good boards, nothing wrong with going with the one with prettier colors if you're more comfortable with it.

It's not just the color but the security from my past experiences with both manufacturers. It may not have been Asus fault for the bad board (EMI could've damaged it) that I had but I've had so many consecutive MSI motherboards which no have failed as of this date.

Go with what you know, I know of several MSI boards that had poor build quality and have never had any trouble with Asus or AsRock boards....
If you feel happier and won't be worrying about if the board is going to die, buy MSI. MSI tend to come with more gizmo's anyway, and look pretty :D

I liek the Asus, but horror stories seem quite a common occurance and Asus' tech support is famously unreliable. MSI on the otherhand seem to be very reliable and stable

Built systems for people with both boards, both very good & easy to set up asus voice post very helpful, MSI post reporting lights nearly as usefull, but my own computer runs on an Asus a7n8x deluxe gold but be sure to get crucial memory if using dual channel memory or it will be lockups and crashing as soon as you throw an intense program at it.

Explain this voice POST thing a bit better please.
Does the BIOS speak English to the user?

Yes, actually it does speak English, very clearly too. I'm not crazy about the voice feature really, but I haven't bothered to turn it off.
Crucial is good RAM for this board, but Samsung works fine for me too.
