Podbot is the bot of choice

The best way to get good online is to join servers and just play... obviously bots help but they arent a very reliable way of trying to judge how good you actually are.

There are beginner only servers out there that can be handy to go on...

PodBot is probably the best though, as Jakk said.

This is quite an old game!

Yeah, I finished it a long while back, but even though it's old, its still one of the best :p

P.S - Beware, CS handles very differently to HL!

just go on and play CS bots suck anyway u will only get experience from real players

get CS from www.counter-strike.net
version 1.5

also get http://www.computergames.ro/download.php?optiune=show_download&did=823
which is beta version 1.6 (doesnt require half-life) and is major improvement (it even has wide screen option which works great on my dell 8500 with widescreen :) :P)

On the subject of 1.6, has an actual release date been confirmed??

It seems to have been in the beta testing stages for what seems an ice age now.
Is it wanting to synchronize it's release with the phantom CS: Condition Zero which has also gone very quiet?

So will Counter-Strike 2 comes out for Half-Life 2? I hope it will because I like Counter-Strike, though! I hope the developers will come out something that will replace Counter-Strike and revolutionize the online multiplayer FPS game.

Yeah... :D

Yeah... :D

I've heard a CS2 is in the works ( not CS:CZ ) but I dont know how much truth there is in that.

So CS:Z will need Half-Life to play, right?

Counter-Strike version 1.6 is mess, just like everything that Valve handles.

It was supposed to be released in February or something with Steam (a game-matching program or something) The whole thing overloaded and crashed and here we are still without a patch.

Condition Zero has been delayed for like a year and half, good old valve.

I think they are busy with Counter-Strike 2. Because Half-Life 2 will be a major hit so the developers don't want to lose out. The two other games? I think they're gonna abandon them for the bigger prize.

I reckon its fallen into the abyss, just like TF2. Personally i couldnt give a monekys about CS:CZ, but whay did they deprive me of TF2 :(

Who cares about Condition Zero?

Condition Zero is like a single player version of Counter-Strike isn't it? It would be interesting to see how it would cope in that situation...

Just play CS with Podbot, its gotta be the same thing more or less as CS:CZ, afterall the AI is being coded by the guy behind podbot

I tried to practice with bots with CS... bad things happened. When they weren't running at the walls, they pop me in the head before I'd even see them. Though I only used them in small maps which they probably weren't geared for, the AI was terrible, hope CS:CZ is better. (56k connection, had to use bots to train for lans)

It usually helps if you actually get the waypoint files for the particular map your playing for the bots to use, otherwise they will run around like blue bummed flies doing not a lot in general

I know, but I like to play small maps, practice shooting etc... rather than bombing etc... when I'm playing bots, they should have some AI as to not just run into walls for 30 min. Such as

If "wall hit"
Then turn around

would've made it a bit better :t

maybe some coding to get them to know the constraints of the map and a selection to syle of the gameplay desired.
