If so, where can I buy it online ? Hopefully it'll cost a few bucks instead of having to purchase a serial cradle for a Handspring Visor for $30. Need serial because the OS is NT4.

Thx.

You can get one from Belki n (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=1999&pcount=&Product_Id=20938&Section.Section_Path=%2F%2FRoot%2FUSB%2FPCProducts %2FAdapters%2F) but it's a lot more than $30.

hmm, don't they have one that's as small and simple as say a PS/2 <--> USB adapter ?

What about this (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1999&pcount=&Product_Id=91042&Section.Section_Path=%2F%2FRoot%2FUSB%2FPCProducts %2FAdapters%2F) It's more than $30 but it might be what you're looking for.

thanks for doing the research, but I'm definitely looking for a < $10 adapter if one exists... if not, I may as well just buy a $30 serial cradle.

I understand but I thought a USB adapter would be better.I don't think you will have much luck finding what you want for ~$10 but keep looking you might get lucky.

I have a USB to PS/2 Connector from a Logitech USB mouse I accidentally fried, and a PS/2 to Serial connector from another dead mouse. I'm sure they could be used together. Find someone who has a USB mouse and see if you could get the connector if they dont use the PS/2 port, and see if someone has a PS/2 to Serial connector.

If it doesnt work, it might just need to be rewired. Not to hard to do to a serial port.

For 30 bucks why not buy you a PCI card that gives you 2 usb ports? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Just a thought...

Cause NT4.0 doesn't support USB http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Alright - here's a silly question - what's a
Handspring Visor -

next - what makes you think the equipment will actually work through a serial port?

Are there serial drivers for the thing?

Does the equipment have an independant power source? Does it need one?

Trying to make something USB work on NT usually ends in frustration. Perhaps some of my questins will help you re-think this idea a little.

You could always dual boot the machine and pop on win98SE that will address the USB ports and get that thing working.....

NT machine is a work machine, so loading another OS on it is out of the question.

A Handspring Visor is the same thing as a Palm Pilot. It sits in a cradle, USB or serial. The Visors come with a USB cradle (not like the cheapass Palms that I recently purchased also)... and seeing that NT4 is on the machine, a serial connector is needed.

Hence, I am in search of an adapter that will turn that USB connector into a serial connector... if possible... still in search of a $5-$10 one... so let me know if you see it.
