Just bought a new system (P4, 3.0GHTz). It came with 512 meg mem.
The brand name of memory is HYMIX. The mem info is:
Module Part No. Density
HYMD232646A8J-D43 256MB
Component Part No. Type Speed CL
HY5DU56822AT-D43 32Mx8 400MHz 3
(It uses the hyper-threading method).
I havent been able to find it via Google or anywhere else on the internet.
I'm looking to add another 512 megs and would like to use "matching" memory but am willing to use another brand if it will work good with what i have.
Anyone know where this chip can be found (Or even a close match that works well)?
thank you,
Izdaari

Hynix with an 'n" is a brand of chips used in RAM but as far as I know they don't make RAM, just chips for it.
Hymix with an "m" sounds like one of those generic brands trying to pass as something good by mimicking the brand name with a letter or two off. I'm afraid it's probably cheap generic **** and good luck trying to match it.

Memory doesn't use hyperthreading - CPUs do.
You can use any matching-specification RAM in your PC. It looks like DDR3200/DDR400. I recommend PC3200 Crucial.

Corsair Value RAM is fine too:

Sorry for the spelling, "eyes ain't what they used to be" or in other words, "Its not good to get old"!
It was "Hynix" and it is also DDr400 PC3200.
Thanks for the info, i'll check it out.

found these:
Crucial.com
DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Non-parity • 5ns • 2.5V • 32Meg x 64 ($47.99)
DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • ECC • 5ns • 2.5V • 32Meg x 72 ($55.99)
The ones i have now are 32Meg x 8, dont know about unbuffered, Non-parity, or ECC.
What does the 32Meg x 8 (or 64 or 72) mean? Why is one more expensive that the other?
Appreciate all info,
thanks,

Don't get ECC. It won't mix. It's highly doubtfull that your current RAM is ECC.
The 8 in 32M x 8 represents the data path width x 32MB for 256 total. Crucial uses a different method to arrive at the same results. They require you to divide the number by 8.

Well, that was informative, learn something new every day (and by the time you are real smart, you are to old to do anything about it). :)
So i should get the cheaper mem.
thanks, BipolarBill, got a good answer and saved a couple bucks in the process! Can't do better than that...
