That's not good!

Search your hard drive for DFRG.MSC. That's it. You should contact Executive Software:

Open a command prompt and type SFC /SCANNOW. That should fix it.

The thing is that Executive Software writes the native XP defragger too. When you install Diskeeper, it literally takes the place of the old one. An improper uninstallation causes this.

You did use Add/Remove Programs, didn't you?

It doesn't make a difference how it happened. Let's just fix it.

Yea the sfc should work, I d/l the free ver and didn't like the reminder to buy, uninstalled it but it didn't take xp's ver with it and don't see why it should take yours with it, quite improper.

hmmm... intresting
Could i post DFRG.MSC into my website and it could be downloaded from there? I am running XP home.

http://cwin.redirectme.net/

Will be in the downloads section

The download alone probably won't do it. In the registry is gummed up too.

you didn't say whether you found it - and I'll bet you used their installer instead of XP's, then uninstalled it using XP?

if this is recent, have you tried restore - may solve the problem with your registry once you d/l and put the program where it belongs?

For some reason, diskeeper just dissapeared off of my pc  . Completely, no shortcut icons / program files nothing!

Anyway, would it not be worth trying the dfrg.msc alone? After all it is a snap-in to the mmc, not an executable.

Possibly. The registry may be looking for it (have you checked Event Viewer?) and can't find it. If Windows is not aware of it's absence, it may not function as a snap-in.

The proof is in the pudding.

You could try reinstalling diskeeper and see if it puts your defragger back.. could use system restore..
Mabey the registry is still pointing to the defragger but windows cant see it, so mabey all you gotta do is put it back. :t
