I have installed my new SATA drive, partioined it as I want to be a mirror of my IDE devices installed, but have a problem.

If I boot from the SATA drive with IDE hdds in place, no problems, all boots and works, SATA drive showing as G, H and I.....

If I boot from SATA with no IDE HDDs in place, it hangs just b4 welcome screen.

How can I change the drive letters assigned to my SATA drive to be C, D and E....in disk management it will not let me change master boot volume.

Have found a reg hack in microsoft knowledge base for win 2000 and may give it a go but didnt know if there was any third party software I could use to chang drive letters from dos.

Thanks.:t

Install the OS on the SATA drive alone. Add the others later. Be sure that the boot sequence in BIOS omits the IDE drives.

You cannot change them after installation.
