As I can post, but not see my posts on the forum, please post here with any suggestions and also email me at RightTurnNoStop@charter.net for me to try. This is really weird, and Socalgal is attempting to find a solution too.
Please help me, I'm starting to go thru withdrawals....
Please read the last post, this is an update to possibly help someone else with the same problem.

Have you tried to refresh the page when you come back to it. If you don't windows will grab the page out of cache and not check for newer version. Most of the time.

I also can't see any new posts from anyone else, so please send me the email, TIA

Kuasimodem, if you will go to your temporary internet files, and delete all of thoes folders that contain every page you ever visited (where the cached pages are stored) it will stop that **** of pulling back up the cached pages every time...
I had that problem yesterday (or day before that) even if I refreshed that page or the main page before that. I even deleted the files in the IE properties but it didnt appear for some time. Today there is no problem. Maybe its a bit busy at the moment. Most times my reply shows up straight away when I am returned to the orig post.
Hang on it just happened again, the mumber of replies increased by 1 to 6 total but I can only see 5 and mine isnt there. Oh well it worked before ok, I dont really need to see what I have just written anyway. Just thought I would let you know its not your system or in your mind. Oh yeah I tried the refresh trick again without success.

Kuasimodem,
I sent you an email earlier, and I've just sent you another one, because I haven't heard back from you.
Perhaps your SysOpt 'cookie' got corrupted. Try installing a new one. Click on the Preferences on the forum page (top right of page) and choose "Click here to delete all cookies set by this forum!" When done, click on the option below to "Click here to return to Preferences" and reset any Preferences.
sns - you might try that too.
LMK or post here if that works (or doesn't).

OK, this is weird!! I just logged into my AOL account to access Sysopt, and guess what? I can see all posts!!!!!
This narrows down the prob to IE and Netscape.
I'm running IE6 now, Netscape 4.77 and AOL 6.0beta. I have cleared all my history, temp and cookie files. I went to Sysopt and created a new cookie by updating my preferences. Rebooted both my router and my cable modem, reloaded my NIC drivers and redid the settings on Network Neighborhood too.
Are there any more ideas floating around out there?
BTW - IE 6 is really nice, I'm getting download speeds of 60 to 80kps on a 512kps connection.

Could it possible be high security. That's the only thing I can fathom, if the security setting is too high it may not accept updates. I'm not very familiar with the new IE6 or frankly any browsers but this just made sense to me.

Ok, in Netscape, you can go to
Edit->Preferences
Then click on the advanced->cache
Change the radio button on "document in cache is compared to document on network:" to "every time." Also, if you hold down shift or ctrl or alt (don't remember which) when you click on reload, it forces it to ignore the cache and reload the whole page.
I haven't had trouble with this since I switched to Opera though.

OK, I think I know what the problem is, because the reload/refresh tip that samwichse gave me worked in Netscape, and then when I went to IE, the page came up with all the posts listed.
I just have to remember to hold down "shift" when I refresh a page...
Thanks all for suggestions, but I have just one more question, can I disable the cache for viewed pages, I don't need it for browsing, thanks to this cable modem.
<edit> The shift trick only worked on Netscape, but after Netscape sees the whole page, then IE can.
This is getting weirder and weirder...

You hold CTRL in IE, I got the same problem now for some reason.....I know this is an old thread but did you and socal get it worked out or are you just using Netscape and holding shift?

I've been using Netscape for now, but I'm thinking of reloading, I've got so many different drivers and settings changes on this thing its starting to boot sloooooow. I've gone from a 35 second boot to almost 2 minutes.
Thanks for the tip on CTRL-refresh on IE.

Hi Socalgal, i have that same problem from time to time, so i followed your advice and deleted the coockie and then had it installed again from new, and for some reason now it happes in every thread that i have visited.
I am using Win98se and IE5.5.
If you could help me out with some other advice either by posting here or e-mailing me i would be very grateful.

Go to tools/internet options/tif settings.

I even checked in the registry for the settings, and they are set correctly in there.
Holding down CTRL while clicking refresh updates the page fine, but it's still a pain in the @$$!!
Like club_med, this only affects threads that I have visited, but when I go to threads that I have never visited before, I can see all the posts.
Just a thought...could this be my *##&%(%^ ISP caching pages "for" me? They just did some "upgrading" before this all happened to me (but why would a cable ISP cache pages?).

My ISP hasn't upgraded nad I still have the prob, it just started 3 days ago, I did as Socalcal suggested earlier and removed the cookies but it's still the same, BBA's suggestion hasn't done anything either, it was already set to automatic and that hadn't changed recently so though so that shouldn't have been it. The only thing that has happened recently was installing the Det12.00's. Can't see how it'd be realted though. I've Got IE5 & Win98SE. Never had this before.

Some ISP's cache pages in an effort to reduce bandwidth consumption. This may be the case with your ISP's, especially if logging into a different ISP (AOL) enables you to see the posts. When logged into AOL, try using IE to browse sysopt (IE works with AOL I believe).

I'll give my ISP an e-mail, I don't think it's sysopt related though, I noticed that my audiogalaxy homepage hasn't been updating like it did before this problems started either.
The ISP does sound like a good candidate here.
They do not have to upgrade anything at the ISP, just one idiot changing a few proxy caching settings will cause this.

Well I got a response and they said nothings changed in the service lately, they told me IE5 is notoriously buggy with caching and to upgrade to IE5.5.

Hellmund, I got the same response from my ISP, they didn't know what to say when I told them I'm using IE6.0. I also have the same prob with 5.5 and Netscape 4.77.

OK then, I'll try re-installing the modem driver and the com-port driver and try that. Then if that doesn't work I'll play around with my network settings or if all else fails I'll get rid of all the protocols and adapters in network neighborhood and start again. Other than that I'm stumped, I hadn't changed a single sys setting before this started happening.

Im suing IE5.5 too, for some reason I have the feeling that for the past two days everything has been working fine.
I can't remember what I did, actually I didn't do anything.

Well folks, I finally found the source of my troubles!! My cable ISP has been caching pages to save bandwidth!
I sent an email to a friend I made in Tech Support, and he checked it out and contacted the system administrator, and now they don't cache pages from SysOpt!
Thank you all who took the time to help me out. Thanks to Socalgal for her patience. And thank you SysOpt for the clue to ISP cache possibility.
And I was just getting pretty good at hitting CTL-Refresh to see the new posts... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Dam, I'm still stuck using the 'ol' ctrl+refresh , my ISP hasn't changed what it caches or anything lately so that can't be it, actually it only seems to happen 1 in 3 posts lately. It's not constant which is kind of puzzling.
