I've finally convinced myslef to upgrade my system with a MSI K7T turbo motherboard and a 750-850 Duron (haven't decided on speed yet). My current power supply is pretty anemic, only 235 watts. Is this thing going to be a problem, or will it get the job done? If so, will it be sufficient if I upgrade to a 1+ Ghz CPU in the future?

I would definitely get at least a 300 watt power supply for higher speed T-birds. For the highest speed T-birds, I would recommend 350 watts.

Seems like a high quality 250W is the bare minimum. Better to go with a 300W unless you really like to gamble.

Brandon78,
I have the mobo you are looking at with a Duron 750@1006. I had a Deer 250w PS and it ran initialy but had random lockups. It turn out to be the PS, changed it to a 300w ps and the box is now stable. If you are lucky, you might be able to boot up and install with a 250w. Running and keeping it stable is just a guess from then on.

A 235w psu is like so socket7! Are you sure it's not an AT psu? I got a 300w DEER ATX psu and case for only $60can to use with my soon duron 750.

My Duron 800@980 runs solid as a rock on a 250 watt power supply. And it's a cheapie at that.

I think it's when you get to the 1gig mark that you want a 300w psu, and a good quality one as well. I tested a old cheap 200w I found with a volt meter. The thing couldn't hold a steady voltage on any rail!
